The VCS Hub is a database holding profiles of voluntary and community sector organisations offering extra-curricular activities. All the organisations registered on the VCS Hub have been quality-checked by the Learning Exchange so that schools and local authorities can commission their services with confidence. To raise attainment and improve attendance and behaviour, ContinYou - with our partners, the University of the First Age, Quality in Study Support (QiSS) and 4Children - is being supported by the Department for Education to encourage schools, local authorities and voluntary sector organisations to work together more effectively to achieve better learning outcomes for pupils between 5 and 14, and SEN pupils up to age 16.

What the VCS Hub offers voluntary and community sector organisations

Quality checking   VCS organisations that register on the new VCS Hub will be asked to complete a simple quality checklist during the registration process. If a VCS organisation does not have a quality assurance mark or is not able to successfully complete the checklist, this is nothing to worry about. The Learning Exchange can support them to determine their quality assurance needs. We can offer good practice advice and helpful resources.

VCS Hub members will also be encouraged to start working towards achieving a quality assurance mark by following the Quality in Study Support (QiSS) ‘First Steps’.

Free online marketing space until September 2012   Registeration on the VCS Hub offers organisations which run extra-curricular activities for KS1, KS2 or KS3 pupils or SEN pupils up to age 16 a free online marketing space on the Learning Exchange. Registered VCS organisations can manage their online marketing space themselves to actively promote their activities to schools. They can do this by using Learning Exchange features such as blogs and forums.

Free training and resources   We are also offering FREE training and resources to voluntary sector organisations that are members of the Learning Exchange.

Promotion through the Learning Exchange e-newsletter   The Learning Exchange can also help VCS organisations to promote their activities by highlighting them in weekly e-newsletters to members, and promoting them on the Learning Exchange Twitter feed and Facebook page.

Comments and ratings   Schools and local authorities will be able to leave comments and star ratings under VCS profiles, which can help VCS organisations build their reputations.

The VCS Hub is now ready to accept registrations.

Registration on the VCS Hub and Learning Exchange membership are FREE until September 2012.
