Four children smilingOffering a wider and better range of extra-curricular activities can help schools improve their students' academic outcomes, improve students' behaviour and attendance, and re-engage those who are disaffected. This free training offers a chance to learn more about effective partnership working, how you can increase students' participation and engagement, and how you can commission high-quality activities more effectively to achieve these aims - particularly for disadvantaged students. Book your free training place today for the June and July training days. Dates for October 2012 and February 2013 will be posted soon. .

The Learning Exchange, with support from the Department for Education, is offering free training plus free resources developed by experienced extra-curricular practitioners in order to help schools, voluntary and community sector organisations and local authorities improve the extra-curricular activities they offer pupils.

The free training (which is run by our partners, the University of the First Age (UFA), covers many aspects of delivering extra-curricular activities. The training days include peer-to-peer sessions, which are designed to support schools, local authorities and voluntary and community sector organisations to work together more effectively in delivering appropriate extra-curricular activities, particularly in deprived areas.

The peer-to-peer seminars, which are part of the training events, aim to allow schools and VCS organisations to meet and make useful connections with each other, to share information and discuss the challenges involved in offering pupils high-quality extra-curricular learning activities.

To take advantage of this offer, all that you need to do is join the Learning Exchange now. Membership is entirely free.

School and local authority members will also be able to search a new and growing database on the Learning Exchange called the VCS Hub, which holds the profiles of quality-checked voluntary sector organisations offering extra-curricular activities to pupils. A wide range of tips and extra advice around running high-quality extra-curricular activities is also offered to members.

Please book early as places are limited and we offer this training on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.
