Why join the Learning Exchange?

Here are all the benefits that the Learning Exchange offers its members:

Free training, resources and peer-to-peer seminars
During 2011-2012 and 2012-13
schools and voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations registered on the VCS Hub are being offered free training opportunities and resources.

Blogging space
Members are encouraged to write about their extra-curricular activities and extended services for children, young people and families. Blogs can be an excellent way to link with other people, share ideas and tips, air your views and gather new ideas and practical know-how.

Free marketing and visibility for VCS organisations on the VCS Hub - until September 2012
Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations that qualify to register on the VCS Hub are offered a public profile on the VCS Hub, which schools can find by using the VCS search engine. (Find out which membership suits you?)

  • Quality-checked VCS organisations registered on the VCS Hub can also use their blogs to promote their extra-curricular activities and programmes. Blogs are linked to profiles on the VCS Hub, which means schools and local authorities can read these to gather more information about any VCS organisations they may wish to commission to run extra-curricular activities for pupils.
  • Whenever VCS organisations blog about their services – and they can do so regularly – all members see their blogs on the Members’ hub. The weekly Learning Exchange e-newsletter will also draw attention to these blog entries, thus enhancing VCS organisations' visibility to schools. (Find out which membership suits you?)

VCS organisations that do not qualify to register on the VCS Hub until September 2013 are also offered a free year, until September 2012, in which they can use their blogs and the Learning Exchange forums to promote their services to schools.

Forums
Participation in online discussions offers all members opportunities to explore issues, share good practice, ask questions, share ideas or find new inspiration.

Networking opportunities
Making connections with other Learning Exchange members can offer help schools and other organsations to form new alliances and partnerships.

A useful library
This is full of resources, articles, information, tips and ideas. We replenish it constantly.

A case study bank
A growing selection of case studies; we invite you to add more.

A news centre
A place on the site where members can catch up with selected news items that are relevant to their work. The Learning Exchange saves you hunting for news yourself by linking to a wide variety of news stories, event information, consultations and media comment.

Share resources with other members
Upload your useful documents, case studies, templates and so on. If you wish, these can be included in the Members' documents section of the Learning Exchange Library.

A weekly e-newsletter
Keeping you up to date with new site content, inspiring - and sometimes entertaining - features and news; plus information and news from VCS hub members.

Access to the Learning Exchange e-helpline:
This is the Learning Exchange e-helpline which is available to all members. Send us your questions and our promise is to find you answers either immediately or within a week.
