SCHOOL WORKFORCE REFORM: the benefits of lengthening the school day, changing how staff work and other aspects of workforce reform have benefited the development of extra-curricular and extended services.

Workforce reform in schools: has it made a difference?   This is an evaluation of changes that have been made to the school workforce in England between 2003 and 2009. It states that the wider schools workforce, including teaching assistants and learning mentors, is making a difference to pupils’ learning if staff are effectively deployed. It also shows that some schools are making much better use of their wider workforce than those visited before the reforms were introduced.
