Share your good practice

We encourage school-based childcare providers to share their experiences and good practices with us by emailing: askLex@family-action.org.uk.

This peer support will enable school-based providers across England to learn from each other, and help settings develop more inclusive childcare practices for children with SEND.

young girl CHILDCARE IN SCHOOLS: Family Action is being funded by the DfE as part of The National Prospectus Grants Programme 2015-16 to deliver a new programme: Increasing the provision of high-quality, inclusive school-based childcare for 0-5s with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Between April 2015 and March 2016, Family Action’s Childcare in Schools team will be supporting selected school-based providers in England (eg children's centres, PVIs, schools, nurseries) to develop their inclusive childcare practices for 0-5s with SEND.

The team is providing intensive support to settings in three main areas:

  • North (eg Morecambe, Leeds)
  • Midlands / North London (eg Bedworth, Milton Keynes)
  • South / South London (eg Southampton, Croydon).

During the course of the twelve-month project we will also be providing light support and face-to-face training for additional settings across the country (eg Devon).

We will be disseminating the learning gained by all our settings during the year through the Learning Exchange website (eg issues they are facing and how they are overcoming these), so that other settings can learn from their experiences.
