About the East Midlands Adoption Support Service

The EMASS is a service working in partnership with a number of local authorities and voluntary sector organisations to ensure adopted children and those with attachment-based difficulties and their families in the East Midlands receive the support they need when they need it.

What we do

  • We listen to you and provide independent advice without judgement.
  • We support all adopted children and those subject to Special Guardianship Orders who were formerly in local authority care and who are struggling in education.
  • We can provide training and support to schools, parents and professionals on ways to meet the particular needs of adopted children and young people using an attachment-based approach.
  • We provide this online portal where you can access information, advice and signposting to local and national support groups and services: www.learning-exchange.org.uk
  • We can explain what is available for you and your family through the Adoption Support Fund and other specialist adoption services provided by your local authority.
  • We can provide sessional support to you and your child/children to deliver jointly agreed outcomes.
