A New Approach to Child Poverty: Tackling the Causes of Disadvantage and Transforming Families' Lives The coalition government’s national Child Poverty Strategy sets out its new approach to tackling poverty from 2010 up to 2020. This document sets out what it proposes to do between 2011 and 2014. Strengthening families, encouraging responsibility, promoting work, guaranteeing fairness and supporting the most vulnerable people are central to the strategy. It is based on the Child Poverty Act 2010, which set income targets for 2020 and a duty to minimise socio-economic disadvantage.
