Hi, after requests from mentors we have set up a forum here on the learning exchange for mentors to get together share their experiences, good practice and network with each other. I'll be emailing out to all of our mentors (currently 71 across England) to promote this forum so hopefully we'll see some action here soon. I'd like to start of with asking mentors what could we do better to help and support you? Any suggestions welcome. We are already working on a mentor only page on our website with useful downloads, example witness statements etc, so please do join in! |

One of our members, Emily Beckwith, sent a question to our e-helpline asklex@continyou.org.uk. Emily works for Afghan Association Paiwand. |

I would join with you Paddy in recommending Refugee Education. I used Bill Bolloten's (co founder of Refugee Education) book 'Supporting Refugee and Asylum-seeeing Children in School and Early Years Settings all the time when I was working with refugee communities in South London, it was an invaluable reference tool with loads of really practical ideas. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in improving the service they're delivering to children from refugee backgrounds to visit www.refugeeeducation.co.uk (don't forget 3 e's in the middle of that URL |
